My Mum leafed through a book with 12 different body shapes and didn’t fit exactly into any of them! Why? Because we are all unique and meant to be that way! So let’s keep things simple. This easy guide is not about labelling but helping you start to identify your basic shape.
Ask yourself these questions:
1) Do you wear a bigger size on top?
2) Do you wear a bigger size on the bottom?
3) Do you wear the same size top and bottom?
4) Do you have a defined waist?
Apple
• You wear a bigger size on the top than on the bottom.
• You have a full bust and carry weight on your tummy.
• You feel you don’t have a defined waist.
• You have comparatively slimmer hips and legs.
Pear
• You wear a bigger size on the bottom than on the top.
• You carry your weight on your bottom and thighs.
• Your hips may be wider than your shoulders.
• You have a defined waist.
Hourglass
• You wear the same size top and bottom.
• You have a defined waist.
• You may have a full bust and carry weight on your tummy, thighs and arms.
Straight
• You wear the same size top and bottom.
• You don’t feel you have a defined waist.
Inverted Triangle
• Your shoulders are broader than your hips.
• You don’t feel you have a defined waist.
• You have comparatively slimmer hips and legs.
• You may have a smaller bust.
