How to...Shine this Christmas

If the thought alone of receiving a Christmas party invite brings you out in a cold sweat, then follow my top tips on how to’ Shine this Christmas’.

It doesn’t have to be black!

Who said it had to be a Little Black Dress? There are so many gorgeous rich colours around at the moment. Go for a berry, purple, plum, turquoise, red, emerald green or electric blue. Monsoon has a gorgeous selection of colourful dresses at under £69.

Stun in Sparkles

Make a statement in this season's must-have eye-catching embellishments and shimmering sequins. If an all-over sequin dress is not for you, dazzle with your accessories instead. Keep your outfit simple and really go for it with a stunning necklace or earrings and a cuff. This way you are also much less likely to bump into someone wearing the same thing. M&S have a wide selection of fashion jewellery and sequin clutch bags.

Get your Make-up right

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again; wearing colours that flatter near your face makes a world of difference. This is even more apparent with what you put ON your face. Yes, make sure your foundation is a match, but just as importantly your blusher and lip colour should be in a tone that complements your colouring.

Stylishly disguise your upper arms

I hate to admit it but I need to get to the gym and work on my bingo wings! Luckily no-one would ever know because I can dress to disguise the parts of my body I would rather not let the rest of the world see. Keep warm whilst cleverly disguising your upper arms with a shrug or shawl.  Monsoon always has a selection of boleros and shrugs to layer over your party wear. Go for a ¾ length sleeve to draw the eye down to the slimmest part of your arm.

Perfect Pins

Legs always look better in tights and nude tights are like foundation for legs. Apparently flesh-coloured tights are making a huge comeback thanks to the Duchess of Cambridge. John Lewis 7 Barely There (£5 a pair) give a very natural look.

Chic Comfort

Palazzo trousers happen to not only look chic but are extremely comfortable, perfect for saying yes to that extra mince pie. Try wearing them with a sparkly top and satin ballet pump.
